A new discovery … Pastacup

Quite by accident, I discovered Pastacup in Beldon a few weeks ago that has apparently been open since December 2013. It is a great little franchised restaurant that specialises in pasta that is made by hand on site every day. The end result is of course delicious, fresh pasta! Fresh pasta is way nicer than the packet version. There is no comparison really! You have the option to dine in or have takeaways. We found dining in perfectly comfortable. Pick your pasta, pick your size, pick your sauce … their staff are friendly and helpful and their system is very accommodating even to the extent that most items on their menu can be easily converted into a vegetarian meal by merely omitting the meat. This flexibility is truly appreciated as, sad to say, many mainstream restaurants have very small selections for vegetarians. Sauce servings are generous so be sure to mention it if you prefer your pasta lightly sauced. Delicious, complimentary bread was served with the meal too. They also have a loyalty card in terms of which they offer a free pasta after you have purchased nine pastas. See http://www.pastacup.com.au for more details about their loyalty rewards plus their story, other branches and more. They also have a page on Facebook. I would definitely recommend going there and I will definitely be visiting again.

Indeed a good feeling: 2014 Toyota Corolla Ascent sedan shopping

So the time for buying a new car finally came. The logical place to start looking seemed to be the amazing car shopping strip on Wanneroo Road (just north of the Whitfords t-junction) which abounds with an assortment of motor dealers. Being Toyota fans (and proud owners of a 1998 Corolla that needed replacing), Grand Toyota Wangara seemed the logical choice to start our quest, and that is in fact where our quest ended as we found what we wanted and left.

One of the first thing that strikes you when you encounter a new Corolla is how much bigger it is than the old ones. When we first walked past a Corolla on the showroom floor, we looked at it admiringly but with no real interest as we assumed it was a much bigger model car, ie. bigger than we needed and that we were going to buy.

As we were already pretty much sold on the Toyota brand when we walked through the doors, there was in fact not much choice as the Corolla hatch and Yaris were too small, and the Aurion was way too big. That left us nicely in the middle with the supersized Corolla sedan: what a beauty!

Car

Obviously, coming from a 1998 model background I was pretty easy to please with the stylish good looks and mod cons in the new model. We ended up picking the manual model with a few added extras, which was delivered to us in good time and in a professional manner by the motor dealer. While I was initially disappointed that it didn’t have a built in sat/nav system, that proved to be an advantage as you can simply use Google Maps, which is updated at no cost to you, through the car’s Bluetooth.

It took a little while to get used to the feel of the new car as it is obviously so very different to the old one. The three most noticeable things about driving this car is that the ride is so smooth, the road noise is cut down drastically compared to the old car and it reaches your top desired speed in a flash. In all, we are very happy!
